Sydney Opera House – 2 Macquarie Street, Sydney NSW 2000

Overall: Pretty funky. Baby change only in the disabled toilets. Clean, quiet and secure.

Good Points: No automatic hand dryers. Easy to find (follow the arrows next to the information desk).

Bad Points: No stand-alone parent room (change table in the disabled toilets).

Finally we made it to one of Sydney’s most famous landmarks – the Opera House! I mean, we’ve been to the Opera House before but never to check out how well it is equipped to look after babies. While what we found on the main info/ticket buying floor isn’t the most amazing facility, it is clean, quiet, secure with change tables and room for a decent size pram. Check out the photos and go visit the Sydney Opera House for yourself 🙂

This is good info to have on hand, especially if you’re gonna check out Babies Proms during the year.

The Westin – 1 Martin Place, Sydney NSW 2000

Overall: Basic but lovely. Nappy change and toilets.

Good Points: Easy to find. Clean. Wall mounted fold out change table, with straps intact. Low set toilet with assistance rails. Hook on the wall to hang nappy bags. Powerpoints. Nappy disposal bin. Toilet seat cleaning spray. Door locks from the inside. Sink, soap and paper towels.

Bad Points: Hand dryer is too close to the change table. Narrow doorway. No private area for feeding.

The Westin is one of our favourite hotels in Sydney. It’s gorgeous. Like most hotels in the city, it’s pretty easy to wander into the lobby and find the bathrooms. The baby change facilities in this hotel are in the combined disabled/baby change toilet. Head past reception, down the small hallway past the jeweler, and on the right is the door for the disabled toilet/baby change room.

The doorway is a bit narrow, so larger prams may have an issue getting inside. The room itself is not very big, but it’s incredibly clean. The wall mounted fold out change table is clean, new and the safety straps are intact. It’s a little too close to the hand dryer for my liking. The nappy bins are underneath the table.

The toilet is the perfect height for little ones who use the toilet. An added extra is the toilet seat cleaner/sanitiser spray. This is especially good for cleaning up any misses on the toilet seat. There are a couple of assistance rails around the toilet to help little ones get on and off the loo all by themselves.

Now something that is rare to find in public bathrooms is a powerpoint, but there is a double powerpoint here! Yay!!! And another fab little feature is the hook on the wall next to the powerpoint, perfect for hanging nappy bags. It really is the simple things huh 🙂

Finally we come to the sink and soap. Not much to say other than its clean and working. Both are a little out of reach for little kids, so they may need some assistance.

For feeding babies, sadly there isn’t anything in this bathroom for you to rest and feed your little one. The best thing to do would be to find a quiet space in the lobby of the hotel and feed bubby there. It is a pretty quiet place, so you should be able to feed comfortably without too much disruption.
