Eastland – 171-175 Maroondah Hwy, Ringwood VIC 3134

The team at Child Friendly Solutions have recently completed a refurb of a parent room at Eastland. The before and after photos are wonderful! If you live in or near Ringwood, then make sure you check out the parent room now when you’re out with the little ones. If they love In The Night Garden, they’ll adore the room.

Ironbark Rest Area, Hume Hwy, Barnawatha VIC 3688

Overall: Basic but great for a public rest area. Nappy change, rest, play, toilets.

Good Points: Wall mounted fold out baby change table. Toilets. Covered picnic area, including tables and seats. Loads of trees. No where to spend any money.

Bad Points:No private areas for feeding, but it’s a public rest stop so make do with the resources available.

Finding this rest stop was such a lovely surprise! We were on our way back to Sydney from a weekend in Melbourne and needed a bit of a leg stretch and rest. About 28klm outside of Wodonga, we came across the Ironbark Rest Area, along the Hume Hwy. We pulled into it, not anything at all in respect to baby change facilities, but were pleasantly surprised!

The rest area has covered parking, picnic tables and chairs, loads of trees and a big toilet block. Inside the female toilets, there is a baby change table on the far wall. Wow!!!! How often do you find a baby change table at a public rest stop? Especially one that’s along a highway! We were so surprised and very very happy. The table is mounted against the far wall and is in great condition. It’s clean and everything is intact. In fact, it’s in better condition than most change tables we’ve come across at restaurants, shopping centres etc.

While we didn’t get to check out the male toilets, the ladies toilets is well equipped. In addition to the change table, there are a number of toilet cubicles, a long bench with 3 sinks, plus hand dryer and a bin built in to the bench.

While your stretching your legs, the kids can run about and play among the trees. Just watch out for cars and trucks. If you’re looking for something to do in Wodonga, check out the big information sign at the rest are. It has loads of great ideas.

This has got to be one of the parent room highlights of the year. If you’re going away during the holidays and will be doing the Melbourne the Sydney trip via the Hume at some point, stop off at the Ironbark Rest Area. Another great thing, you don’t have to spend any money here!
