Dundas Valley Library – Sturt Street, Dundas Valley NSW 2117

Overall: Underwhelming. Baby change table only. Not very clean.

Good Points: Toilet door locks from the inside. Ramp access to the library, and flat floor inside to the toilet. Clean, wall mounted, fold out change table. Paper towel, sink, soap.

Bad Points: Street parking only. Unhelpful staff. Cold, small, smelly bathroom. No separate nappy disposal bin.

We’ve been to a number of libraries in the north-west area of Sydney, and this one has been the least impressive of all. It belongs to Parramatta Council, so we might get in touch with them shortly.

Anyway, there is a very limited number of car spaces at the back of the library. Each time we’ve visited, there hasn’t been a single car space available at the rear of the library. The only alternative is to park on the street.

Inside the library we’ve found the staff on the desk to be less than helpful, which is a shame. Other libraries we’ve visited have had fabulous staff, so maybe it’s just a Dundas thing. The good thing about this library is there’s no stairs! Just ramps all the way, making it very friendly.

Now on to the important stuff, the parent room. Well there isn’t one, but there is a combined disabled toilet with baby change table. The toilet is in the far right corner of the library, but the little hallway leading to it is quite narrow which may be a problem for most larger prams. Inside the bathroom, it’s not that nice. It smells of urine, and it’s very cold (and it wasn’t even winter when we visited). The set up is quite basic – wall mounted, fold out change table – but it does the job when you really can’t wait to change bubby.

Check out the photos anyway and make up your mind yourself.
