Mountain High Pies – 293 Great Western Hwy, Wentworth Falls NSW 2782

Overall: Basic yet lovely. Nappy change only.

Good Points: Friendly staff. Loads of seating and a couple of highchairs. Off-street parking. Baby change area is down the hall from the main restaurant area. Baby change/disabled toilet door locks from the inside. Clean wall mounted fold out change table, with straps intact. Sink, soap and paper towels. Nappy bin and rubbish bin.

Bad Points: No private feeding area. The bins were up on the only bench space available, rather than on the floor.

Mountain High Pies is such a lovely place to visit on your way through the mountains. The pies are delicious and the staff are always lovely. For those of us with little people in our families, the shop looks after you pretty well. While the setup is basic for baby care, it is clean, warm and quiet. These are pretty big on the priority list.

The baby change table is located in the disabled bathroom. All the toilets are at the back of the pie shop, well away from the eating area (love that!). You can lock the bathroom door from the inside too, so you won’t be interrupted while changing bubs bottom. The change table is your standard wall mounted fold out one, with straps intact and it’s nice and clean. Some tables we’ve come across in restaurants have been in the most horrible condition. It’s lovely to find one in such good nick.

For hand washing, there’s a sink and soap unit within arms reach of the change table. The paper towel dispenser is on the wall on the right as you walk into the bathroom. It’s great to see paper towel available instead of hand dryers. Babies and hand dryers do not make for a happy combination at all.

There were two rubbish bins, one small and one big, in the bathroom while we were here. Both were up on the bench, where you’d ordinarily put your nappy bag. We’re guessing the floors were probably cleaned just before we checked it out, and the bins normally aren’t up there. Neither of the bins are labelled, but I’d guess the bigger one is for nappies. If in doubt, ask the staff.

If you have been to Mountain High Pies or intend on going there with your little ones at some stage, please let us know what you thought of it. And let the staff there know too.
