This parent room has received a 5-star rating from the Australian Breastfeeding Assocation!

Overall: Fabulous! Nappy change, rest, feed, play, toilets. Highchairs in the food area of the plaza.

Good Points: Easy to find. Clear signs. Push-button, automatic door. Adult and kid size toilets, with individual toilet paper dispensers, sinks, and soap units. Paper towel in the toilets, next to the change area and by the food prep bench. Change bench with soap, sink and nappy bins. Fold out change tables in the private feeding cubicles. Red armchair, shelf for bags, and curtains for privacy in each cubicle. Brand new Play Panels in each cubicle. Clean and working microwave. Separate bench for food prep area with sink.

Bad Points: The taps on the sinks in the toilet are a bit tough to use – even for adults.

This is such a lovely parent room. We visited it twice over a week, and it was in great condition both times. It’s clean, it doesn’t smell and everything is in great condition.

Norton Plaza is very pram-friendly from the start. Whether you enter from the street, or the carpark underneath, it’s easy to navigate with a pram as it’s all ramps and straight entry from the street into the plaza – no steps! In the carpark, there’s also parents-with-prams car spaces, nice and close to the entrance.

We’ve also found out there are highchairs in the food area of the plaza. This means little ones can get out of the pram and have a snack, but still not be able to run off, while parents take a break with a coffee and something to eat.

On the main floor of the plaza, just look up, see the signs directing you to the bathrooms and parent room and follow. Past the male and female toilets, on the left hand side of the hallway, you’ll find the parent room. The big green push-button and wide frosted sliding doors are a pram-drivers best friend. Immediately on the other side of the doors, the baby change bench is on the opposite wall. You can race in, pop baby up on the change bench, do what has to be done and leave without any hassles.

To the right are two private feeding cubicles. Each one has a curtain for privacy, red armchair, shelf for resting bags, and a wall mounted fold out change table. Everything in here is clean and in excellent condition, including the Play Panels (or as we like to call them, ‘parent sanity-savers’). It’s a pleasure being in such a well maintained parent room!

Opposite the feeding cubicles is the food prep area. There’s a clean and working microwave, on the shelf above the bench. At the far end of the bench is the sink, with filtered water, and paper towels. The bench is a decent size too, so you can spread things out while you get bubs food organised.

For little ones using the toilet, or even if you need to go and want a bathroom with room for a pram, the set up here is great. The sliding door is wide enough for a big pram, although not too sure about double prams. The door locks from the inside too. There is an adult and child size toilet, each with it’s own toilet roll dispenser. What’s really cute, and very handy, is the matching sinks with soap dispensers. Kids may need some help getting the taps working though – you have to push the button down, which is quite tough, to get water to come out. It’s not easy for adults, let alone kids.

Check out the photos and let us know what you think. We’re very impressed.
